òL New York’s FW16 Collection Taps Into The Rise of The Underdog
“Yesterday’s underdog, today’s champion.”
Menswear designer Allen Aderotoye has expanded his New York based clothing line òL with this year’s Fall/Winter “Underdog” collection. The line is inspired by the ever-emerging youth culture, which have a taste for the 70’s UK punk movement and 90’s New York Downtown scene. The collection holds a strong silver lining of the rise of the underdog, while paying homage to the break-through niche cultures that have continued to push the fashion world forward.
The Underdog collection offers a refined approach to modern streetwear as you can seen from the huge wool overcoats, plush satin jackets, slim tapered trousers, and terry cloth t-shirts in the gallery above. Several standouts from the drop is the “òL” rubber-coated construction Raincoat and 100% silk satin Tour Jacket with “Underdog” embroidered on the front.
“To become that champion you’ve got to love the process more than you love the title,” Aderotoye explains. “You’ve got to love the strain, the sweat, the struggle. It’s the persistence against the resistance we meet that ultimately results in our strength. It’s the struggle of life, those hardest moments, that help shape who we are.”
Expect Allen’s “Underdog” collection to become available at ol-newyork.com this Fall.
